Care Ministry

FUMC Plano cares about people. These ministries help each person know God’s love in a deeply personal way and experience healing and wholeness in Christ Jesus through the power of God’s Holy Spirit. Below you will find access to the various services we offer.

If you have any questions concerning caring ministries, contact the Rev. Judith Reedy.

Care Ministers

Care Ministers extend the pastoral care ministry of the church. The initial training is followed by regular continuing education and check in. Whether the contact is by phone, email or in person, Care Ministers respect the confidentiality of the persons receiving care and address a variety of needs.

Communion Ministry

Trained volunteers serve communion to persons who are unable to come forward during worship and to persons who are homebound and unable to attend worship services. The training enables servers to know not only how to administer the sacraments but why they are doing so.

Heavenly Hosts

Our hospitality ministry serves food at receptions, celebrations, funerals, and to families in need. Baking, serving and cleanup are included. To volunteer for this ministry contact Peg Thornton at peg.thornton8398@gmail.com or Jill Stoel at jstoel@fumcplano.org.

Hospital Visits

Trained volunteers visit persons in the hospital and rehabilitation centers on the weekends on a rotating basis. For more information or to volunteer, contact Gladys Loddigs, gladlod@verizon.net or Pastor Judith Reedy, jreedy@fumcplano.org.

Phone Ministry

Volunteers contact 5-6 homebound members monthly to check on them. Special relationships have developed through this ministry. Contact Connie Calhoun-Amox, ccalhounamox@fumcplano.org, or 214-505-6960.

Feed My Sheep

One of our greatest needs is to provide meals to members who are alone or are not able to cook meals for themselves. You do not have to cook! Support your local restaurants and they can deliver for you!  Contact Anna Clinton at admfruit@verizon.net to get in the rotation.

Stephen Ministers

Stephen Ministers are members of the congregation, trained by Stephen Leaders to offer care to those who are hurting. A Stephen Minister typically has one care receiver at a time and initially meets with that person for an hour weekly. Learn more here!

Financial Coaching

Financial coaching at FUMC Plano is completely confidential and available to everyone, including church members, visitors, and the wider community. You can choose to have meetings in person at the church or virtually. Sessions usually last about an hour and occur every 1-3 weeks. Most people find they feel better after 2-5 sessions, but we are flexible and will adjust to your needs. Our coaching services are provided free of charge. Learn more here!
