Pray with us.
Easter Prayer Vigil Resources
Thank you for being part of our first-ever Holy Week Prayer Vigil. While the weather has moved us from the Cross Lawn to the comfort of our homes, we remain connected to God and to one another through prayer.
As you enter your hour, remember: there is no one “right” way to pray. Prayer may be spoken or silent, written or shared, personal or conversational. The goal is simply to open your heart to God and join your prayers with the needs of the world.
If you are praying with someone else, you might take turns naming concerns aloud and responding together, “Lord, hear our prayer.”
Begin with What Is on Your Heart
Start simply. Sit quietly for a moment, take a breath, and offer your thoughts, concerns, gratitude, or hopes to God. You do not need special words. God meets you where you are.
Prayer Ideas for Your Hour
Pray Through the Church Prayer List
Lift up those on our church prayer list by name. God knows their needs and surrounds them with grace.
Write a Prayer Journal
Take a notebook and write to God as you would write to a trusted friend. Share what is on your heart without worrying about form or wording. This is holy space between you and God.
Pray with Scripture
Open your Bible and read slowly. Notice if a word, phrase, or passage stands out to you. Ask:
Why does this stand out to me?
What might God be saying through this text?
What am I being invited to see, trust, or do?
You may wish to begin with a Gospel reading from Holy Week or Easter morning.
Try Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina, or “sacred reading,” is a simple way of praying with Scripture.
Read slowly and notice what stands out.
Meditate on a word or phrase.
Pray honestly to God about what you are noticing.
Rest quietly in God’s presence.
Practice Contemplative Prayer
Sit comfortably and be still. Focus on your breathing and let the busyness of the day begin to settle. As you breathe, imagine the Spirit of God filling you with peace. Rest in God’s presence and listen.
Use a Prayer Book or Guided Resource
You may also wish to pray with written prayers and devotionals.

A Final Encouragement
However you spend your hour, trust that your prayer matters. God receives every whispered word, silent tear, written sentence, and moment of stillness. Thank you for helping us keep this vigil together as we move from Good Friday to Easter morning.
To the glory of God.
